Job Summary:
College Medical Center is seeking a Unit Clerk/Telemetry Technician to provide technical and clerical support to nursing staff on the Medical, Surgical, and Telemetry units. This role supports the Hospital’s mission by delivering distinctive, compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include answering phone calls, assisting and directing patients, visitors, and physicians, responding to call lights, maintaining filing systems, identifying normal, abnormal, and life-threatening cardiac rhythms, and initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation when lethal cardiac rhythms are identified.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Telemetry monitoring course certificate and BLS for Healthcare Providers required upon hire
- CPI certification required within 30 days of employment
- 1–2 years of acute-care telemetry technician experience preferred
- Proficient in identifying cardiac rhythms, recognizing life-threatening arrhythmias, and initiating appropriate interventions and notifications
Job-Specific Duties:
- Answer phones promptly and courteously; assist and direct patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
- Respond immediately to call lights and notify appropriate nursing staff of patient needs.
- Maintain organized filing systems; route mail and correspondence; scan records into the Electronic Medical Record and shared files.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify normal/abnormal/lethal rhythms, promptly notify the RN, and initiate Code Blue procedures when required.
- Maintain unit logs, including admission/discharge, daily assignments, census, involuntary holds, and required DOJ and infection prevention documentation.
- Manage inventory and ordering of forms, office supplies, telemetry transmitters, unit cell phones, and other electronic devices.
- Print, mount, and log telemetry strips at required intervals.
- Assist with discharge arrangements, including patient transportation, and perform other assigned duties as needed.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHLB/Glendora Hospital roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHLB/Glendora Hospital in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
