Job Summary:
The Unit Clerk position provides technical and clerical support to nursing staff on the Behavioral Health units. This position supports the Mission of the Hospital through the provision of distinctive and compassionate care to our patients. The Unit Clerk answers phone calls, interacts/directs patients, visitors, and physicians, and aids in the admission process.
- Reconciles hospital billing with the documentation in the patient’s medical record accurately and timely.
- Effectively coordinates with case manager/therapists regarding completion of treatment plan, progress notes and discharge plans on a regular basis.
- Notifies clinical coordinator/program director of any omissions or incomplete areas of medical records immediately; follows-up to insure correction or problem areas.
- Effectively demonstrates a working knowledge of Medicare guidelines and policies as it pertains to admission criteria and medical necessity for continued treatment
- Answers the telephone in a courteous and efficient manner, responding accurately to all requests for information, and routing call to appropriate staff members.
- Completes daily census and revenue forms; assists in the process of billing forms.
- Assists in the preparation of all weekly and monthly reports, as assigned.
- Maintains adequate quantity of forms, materials, supplies, and equipment inventory on the Unit
- Aids in the admission process by connecting with business office and admitting office. Gathers relevant descriptive and financial information as needed and either routes information to appropriate hospital personnel or admits the patient through hospital computer system.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred.
- BLS for healthcare provider’s card upon hire.
- Must be CPI certified within 30 days of employment
- 1-2 years’ experience as unit secretary in an acute care facility preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English.
- Knowledgeable in of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHLB/Glendora Hospital roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHLB/Glendora Hospital in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Pay: $21.00 – $25.91 per hour
