Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician supports hospital pharmacy operations by preparing sterile IV medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring accurate and timely medication distribution under pharmacist supervision.
Qualifications
- Current California Pharmacy Technician Certification required
- IV compounding or hospital experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, math, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile IV medications (including TPN) using aseptic technique
- Perform accurate calculations, labeling, and packaging
- Fill and deliver medication orders; prioritize STAT requests
- Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems (e.g., Omnicell)
- Maintain inventory, restock, and perform outdate checks
- Enter and update patient information (allergies, height, weight, etc.)
- Generate reports and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain required logs (temperature, compounding, humidity)
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards
Additional Duties
- Communicate effectively with pharmacists and healthcare staff
- Assist with cassette exchange and floor stock
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHLB roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHLB in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
