The Insurance Verifier registers patients in a pleasant, professional and timely manner. This role also is expected to conduct patient and guarantor interviews, explain consent forms, patient rights, and financial responsibilities, and addresses routine registration inquiries. Accurately collects and enters demographic and financial information in Cerner, identifies appropriate payer sources, and ensures required pre-certifications and authorizations for timely reimbursement. Performs chart quality control and provides hands-on training for new staff.

Job Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of health Insurances which includes, Managed Care, Medi-Cal, Medicare and third-party payers.
  • High School diploma and equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of admitting operations, laws and regulations as well as strong demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must have at least 5 years of Admitting/Emergency Department experience or equivalent experience.
  • Medical Terminology preferred
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) as they apply to the registration process.
  • Strong organizational skills must work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and remain calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, and strong ability to teach.
  • Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have the ability to resolve issues that arise in a moderate constructive manner.
  • CPI Certification within 30 days of hire

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for College Medical Center roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that College Medical Centerl in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Job Type: Per-Diem (INCLUDES WEEKENDS)

Pay: $24.00 per hour
