Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing a full range of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology and cardiopulmonary procedures, including cardiac ultrasound studies, in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. The role ensures high-quality imaging, accurate measurements, and timely preliminary reporting while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality. The incumbent also supports the department through equipment upkeep, accurate billing, and participation in training and orientation of new staff.
Qualifications:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technician Program with a minimum AS degree in cardiovascular technology, or
- Graduate of an allied health occupation with an AS degree and 12 months of full-time clinical cardiac ultrasound experience.
- Current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers upon hire.
- Experience with computer networking, digital hospital network systems, and digital data transfer.
- Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform diagnostic cardiology and cardiopulmonary procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform cardiology diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians; chart tests and calculate measurements as required.
- Maintain accurate and complete records and other pertinent patient information.
- Provide preliminary reports to attending physicians and nursing staff for any severely abnormal findings.
- Check equipment, supplies, and accessories regularly; perform minor troubleshooting as needed.
- Assist in new employee orientation and serve as a preceptor as requested.
- Complete cardiopulmonary billing accurately and in a timely manner.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to the unique needs of patients across varying age groups.
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHLB, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHLB/Hawthorne Hospital in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
