Curriculum

CMC Internal Medicine Residency offers a comprehensive education encompassing the full spectrum of internal medicine gaining experience and proficiency in settings from a community based hospital to a large academic center.  We offer a robust board review curriculum to prepare you for your boards.

All residents will attend a half day of outpatient continuity clinic weekly  in order to gain experience in the outpatient primary care setting. Here, residents will focus on preventive care, long term management of chronic medical conditions, and acute care visits. 

Rotation sites:

College Medical Center, University of Southern California , West Coast  Endocrine, Dr. Shawn Crum – Infectious disease, Dr. Christine Thai – Rheumatology 

Keck Medicine of USC Affiliation

 

We are excited to offer our residents the opportunity to rotate at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital for the following rotations:

  • Hospital Medicine
  • Cardiology: Heart Failure and Critical Care

ACGME Accredited – Continued Accreditation

 The ACGME accredits Sponsoring Institutions and residency and fellowship programs, confers recognition on additional program formats or components, and dedicates resources to initiatives addressing areas of import in graduate medical education. The ACGME employs best practices, research, and advancements across the continuum of medical education to demonstrate its dedication to enhancing health care and graduate medical education. 

First Year

  • General Inpatient Medicine – 4 months
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit – 1 month
  • Cardiology – 1 month
  • Q4/Elective – 1 month
  • Elective – 2 months
  • Surgery – 1 month
  • Women’s Health – 1 month
  • Emergency Medicine – 1 month

Second Year

  • General Inpatient Medicine – 4 months
  • Q4/Elective – 1 month
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit – 2 months
  • Elective – 1 month
  • Hematology/Oncology – 1 month
  • Neurology – 1 month
  • Gastroenterology – 1 month
  • Pulmonary Medicine – 1 month

Third year

  • General Inpatient Medicine – 4 months
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit – 1 month
  • Q4/Elective – 2 weeks
  • Elective – 6 to 10 weeks
  • Geriatrics – 1 month
  • Infectious Disease – 2 to 4 weeks
  • Rheumatology – 1 month
  • Endocrinology – 2 to 4 weeks
  • Cardiology USC – 1 month
  • Nephrology USC – 1 month
