Biography

Sharmila is a first-year resident in psychiatry at CMC. Born and raised in California; she attended Occidental College completing her BA in Kinesiology. She attained her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean after completing rotations at Bronx, NY and Bakersfield, CA. Sharmila is passionate about Psychiatry especially in the fields of Forensic Psychiatry and Reproductive Psychiatry. She has presented a poster at the American Psychiatric Association focusing on Immunotherapies for treating Major Depressive Disorder. Along with her fellow residents and program director, she recently published an article on the newest edition of the Exceptional Parent magazine highlighting the important aspects of Stuttering. If she isn’t at CMC, you can catch her watching the latest K-dramas or exploring new restaurants around the area.
