Biography
Dr. Marie J. Chery is a PGY-3 psychiatry resident at College Medical Center in Long Beach, California. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the Université d’État d’Haïti. With over 15 years of clinical experience across both international and U.S. healthcare systems, she brings a broad and culturally informed perspective to patient care.
Dr. Chery’s interest in psychiatry stems from her dedication to understanding the whole person—their history, culture, and lived experiences. She has developed a particular interest in geriatric psychiatry and hopes to contribute to improving mental health care and quality of life for older adults.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chery enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing, traveling, and participating in community and faith-based activities. She is multilingual and speaks English, French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish, which enriches her ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds.
