QUALIFICATIONS
• Current CA Pharmacy Technician Certification
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail

Computer System
• Able to charge and credit correctly, look up a patient’s location, look up a patient’s demographic information (E.g. height, weight, allergy, etc.), and run patient census and location lists.
• Generates required reports: MAR, Pick I.V., and production reports with the computer system
• Utilizing the Omnicell Dispensing System, able to refill, load, unload medications, run reports, research, and correct any discrepancies.
I.V. Preparation
• Maintains aseptic technique while accurately completing I.V. rounds.
• Performs calculations accurately.
• Ensures there is only one product prepared at a time and checks for particulate matter in the final product.
• Recycles product as appropriate, changes the prep and expiration dates on recycled product, accurately changes dates, times, and initials all vials for reuse, and properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions.
• Adds additives in proper sequence.
• Ensures syringe and vial count is accurate, labels containers accurately including auxiliary labels.
• Completes packaging including seals, protective wraps, etc.
• Capable of preparing 250 non pre-mixes per 8 hour shift.
• Delivers I.V.’s to proper locations, restocks shelves, rotate stock, and maintains I.V. refrigerator logs.
TPN, Chemotherapy, and Inpatient Dosage Preparations
• Enters correct patient data, prepares TPN as needed, and logs correct solutions.
• Prepares chemotherapy as necessary, documents, and takes requires protective measures.
• Fills orders with correct medication, prepares unit of use dosage when possible, keeps pharmacist informed of workload status, and prioritizes work to prepare STAT, now and waiting in order of importance.
• Follows through on fill on arrival orders, returns medications to stock, rotates stock, and fills requisitions from nursing floors in a timely fashion.
Cassette Exchange, Documentation, and Safety
• Fills medication cassettes, delivers them on time, adjusts charges, and transfers bulk and PRN medication appropriately.
• Checks for computer entry errors, notifies pharmacist as needed, and has less than 3 filling errors per 75 cassettes filled.
• Maintains temperature log, chemotherapy log, batch logs, and education logs.
• Documents Laminar Flow hood cleaning each shift, documents as required, signs memos, initials charge tickets, and places them in correct location.
• Orders medication when stock is low and keeps buyer informed of abnormal use of items.
• Safely uses departmental equipment, disposes of waste in proper containers, able to locate: MSDS sheets, disaster manual, and safety manual, and demonstrates fire procedure verbally.
Quality Improvement and Miscellaneous
• Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided, demonstrates knowledge of CQI through application of the principles in the department, and uses systematic methods to improve services, plan changes and evaluate outcomes.
• Performs floor stock inspections and outdate checks accurately.
• Able to refill and bill emergency medication carts, deliver floor stock accurately, and updates crash cart stickers.
• Completes special projects on time, assists in training of new staff, helps in other areas as needed, and completes other duties as assigned.

Salary: $28.20 – $35.25 per hour
