The PET registered nurse provides psychiatric crisis intervention to assess and enhance a client’s mental and emotional stability, provides mental health evaluations, and initiates 72 hour holds when appropriate.
Pay: $145 Per Assessment
Job specific duties:
- Prioritizes patient care based on physical, psychiatric, and psychosocial assessment.
- Responds to requests for PET evaluations by making an initial phone contact with person making request for evaluation, confirming the location of the client, the need for service, and gives an estimated time of arrival to perform the evaluation.
- Provides support and assistance in problem resolution
- Assess mental status of patients,
- Assess potential for grave disability
- Determines suicidal or homicidal potential, and the level of care required for treatment for each individual case,
- Coordinates the provision of needed service.
- Use knowledge of community resources and agencies providing support service for the mentally ill.
- Consistently utilizes LPS established guidelines and documents probable cause of the client having a mental disorder on the 5150 form.
- Consults with the Psychiatrist regarding the final disposition, on an as needed basis.
- Consistently maintains an open line of communication with the Intake staff throughout the evaluation process and informs them of the outcome of every call.
Qualifications:
- A minimum 3 years of experience in an acute psychiatric facility.
- A valid CA Registered Nurse License
- Current LPS Designation (with a passing score of 80) by the authority of Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Service
Pay: $145 Per Assessment
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for College Medical Center Hawthorne, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that College Medical Center Hawthorne in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
