Job Summary:
A Biomedical Engineering Technician II (BMET II) installs, maintains, repairs, and calibrates complex clinical equipment with minimal supervision, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. They install new equipment, perform preventive maintenance (PM), mentor Level I technicians. They perform preventive maintenance, calibrate devices, maintain service records, and instruct clinical staff on proper usage.
Qualifications/Description:
- CA Driver’s License
- High School diploma, basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and skills of the profession.
- Minimum 2 years experience servicing medical equipment in a clinical engineering environment.
- CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) preferred
- Computer skills required, including the ability to administrate a system, interpret error codes and replace power supplies
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operation verification procedures on clinical equipment.
- Performs PM procedures using manufacturer’s recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.
- Repair, install, and calibrate biomedical equipment and systems
- Determines need for replacement parts and supplies, selects the most cost effective source, and submits properly completed parts request using established policies and guidelines.
- Inform supervisors/stakeholders of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns.
- Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, nomenclature, and service history.
- Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing PM procedures while minimizing interference to hospital departments.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database on Accruent.
- Maintain clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
- Adheres to productivity guidelines for department.
- Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
- Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
- Pay Rate: $32.89 – $41.11 per hour
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for College Medical Center, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that College Medical Center in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
