This position will oversee HIM activities for College Medical Center Long Beach, Phoenix and Glendora Hospital.

Job Description/Qualifications:

Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided, maintaining performance improvement reporting as required.

Recommends space and other resources needed by the department/service and recommends and coordinates the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department/service or the organization.

Keeps Associate Administrator informed of departmental activities, needs, and problems.

Provides a safe working environment for staff members. Promptly reports any accidents, implements corrective preventative action.

Motivates staff in a positive manner. Develops teamwork in accepting and practicing the policies and procedures of the department.

Maintains proactive and effective communication with physicians, administration, and others concerning progress and regarding HIM services.

Analyzes and plans for adequacy of the Medical Records filing system in order to maintain appropriate capacity for proposed storage requirements based on expected future growth.

Effectively plans and coordinates the preparation for on-site reviews by third-party payors, and outside review organizations as they relate to aspects of Health Information Management.

Implements and monitors the medical records in order to evaluate the quality of the work performed through internal audits in areas such as coding, analysis, transcription, filing, statistics, etc. Insures that identified problems are resolved.

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities concerning analyzing, compiling, abstracting, transcribing, coding, indexing and filing of patient records.

Assures that records are consistent with policy for completeness, accuracy and standards of conformance and meeting standards of various accrediting and regulatory agencies, and local, state and federal law.

Develops and prepares timely and accurate statistical reports and analyses based on records in order to analyze the facility’s medical activities and meet necessary regulatory reporting requirements.

Provides recorded medical information to individuals with proper authorization; develops and implements procedures to respond to appropriate requests for information and subpoenas.

Must have a Registration as an RHIT or RHIA. Minimum of two years technical and supervisory experience required. Computer competency in Health Information Management applications.

Pay Range: $48.33-$60.41

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, additional compensation may be available for College Medical Center, such as shift differentials and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for this position is a reasonable estimate that ranges from the lowest to the highest pay College Medical Center, in good faith, believes it might pay for this job based on the circumstances at the time of posting
