Job Summary

CMC is looking for a Diagnostic Sonographer to perform a variety of ultrasound exams following established protocols and quality standards. In this role, you’ll carry out diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by licensed physicians, producing high‑quality images and accurate preliminary data to support diagnosis and treatment planning. You’ll work closely with physicians and clinical staff, assist with specialized exams as needed, and help with the setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment and related imaging systems to ensure reliable, timely results.

On‑call schedule:
Mon–Fri, 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Weekends, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Current ARDMS registration in appropriate specialty (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN) strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers required upon hire and must be maintained in good standing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year ultrasound experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in performing a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations and operating ultrasound equipment, PACS, and electronic medical records.
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound principles, as well as infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of all duties, skills, and procedures for patients across the age spectrum served by the department, including age-specific and culturally sensitive care.

Job-Specific Duties:

  • Performs high-quality ultrasound examinations proficiently.
  • Instructs, educates, and prepares patients for ultrasound procedures.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of patient preparation requirements for various ultrasound exams.
  • Proficiently operates imaging equipment, including filming and workstation systems, in accordance with protocols.
  • Competently performs special procedures (e.g., biopsies, abscess drainages, tube placements).
  • Assesses and monitors patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Consistently demonstrates courteous, compassionate, polite, friendly, and respectful behavior toward patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHLB/CMC, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHLB/CMC in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
