PDD
The Surgical Technician provides patient care and operational support in a hospital setting. Provides technical skills to ensure the safety and protection of the pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient in the provision of patient care.
This position supports the Mission of the Hospital through the provision of distinctive and compassionate care to our patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or GED preferred
- Current CPR BLS for healthcare provider’s card upon hire
- CST school graduate or 2 years experience as a surgical technician.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and technical skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age group served on the unit. Possess knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up surgical suite and instrument trays accurately.
- Prepares instruments and equipment for re-processing if needed.
- Assists in positioning patient properly.
- Understands and maintains sterile techniques.
- Maintains accurate surgical carts.
- Anticipates surgeon’s needs.
- Maintains adequately stocked room.
- Assists in sterile dressing and cast application.
- Properly prepares instruments for decontamination.
- Communicates oral reports of nursing observation to R.N.
- Promotes a quiet, safe, professional environment.
- Assists in transportation and moving of patients.
- Ensures proper functioning of surgical equipment pre and post use.
Salary: $31.87 per hour
