Cardio Technician / Office Support performs diagnostic testing as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practice. Supports the Cardio department as a resource to physicians and provides clerical and scheduling support and performs all receptionist/secretary duties.
This position supports the Mission of the Hospital through the provision of distinctive and compassionate care to our patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or GED preferred.
- Current BLS (AHA) for healthcare provider’s card upon hire.
- EKG certification within 6 months.
- Bilingual preferred.
- One year hospital and / or medical experience preferred.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties and responsibility related to clerical task skills and office coordinator Medical terminology.
- Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age served on the unit. Possess knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs cardiology diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician; EKG’s and Stress Tests.
- Provides preliminary reports to attending physician(s) and nursing staff. Notifies immediately any abnormal (critical) test result using established guidelines.
- Documents any abnormal (critical) test results in the EMR.
- Prepares tests results and scans into EMR.
- Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis; does minor troubleshooting of equipment when necessary.
- Performs Cardiopulmonary billing in an accurate and timely fashion. Completes charge and/or order audits.
- Provides support to the Physicians with the EMR and Cardiopulmonary tests
- Coordinates all department scheduling among all staff, departments and offices involved. EKG; ECHOCARDIOGRAMS; TEE; STRESS TESTS; PFT; EEG; and others.
Demonstrates ability to perform departmental clerical and support activities accurately and timely.
- Completes all appropriate documentation when scheduling procedures.
- Provides correct information to patients of pre-exam requirements.
- Act as liaison between department and physician’s offices.
- Confirms all appointments and conducts follow up in a timely manner via phone with patient and/or referring physician’s office.
- Type reports, memos and other documents accurately and correctly.
- May transcribe test reports and results.
- Compiles all essential documentation to other department for processing (i.e. transcription requisition) accurately and timely. Conducts a daily follow up and audit of all patient reports and process it accordingly for distribution and filing.
- Answers and directs all department calls and requests. Maintain departmental records, files and reports, which include retrieval, fax and distribution of reports in an organized manner.
- Distributes reports in a timely manner to appropriate departments and offices.
- Maintains adequate inventory of clerical supplies.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Compensation Rate: $17.77 – $22.21 per hour
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHCM/CSU roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CHCM/CSU in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
